As there is still no "peace deal", and as all the sides claim to want to end the war, and as President Trump wants to end it this year, below follows the three point proposal how to achieve that:
Why and how this can work:
The Government of Ukraine has already stated that they would de facto accept cessation of hostilities at the present lines of contact. And in today's lawless world de jure has no practical meaning.
The Government of Ukraine had also requested a "security guarantee" from the Government of the USA, and the Government of the USA had agreed to provide such security to Ukraine, if a peace deal is reached.
But the Russian Federation also needs to be secure from possible breach of the peace agreement by Ukraine.
The Government of the Russian Federation have been proposing to achieve such security by "denazification", new elections in Ukraine, or limiting the size of Ukrainian armed forces, while the Government of Ukraine has been rejecting such conditions.
But, even if accepted by Ukraine, such conditions would be difficult to enforce, and any "promises" from "modern liberal democracies" can be violated at any time and have no value whatsoever, because such democracies know only "right-left-center" and "us-them", and change meanings of words as it suits them. They have no ability of distinguishing between the right and the wrong.
The only way to make such democracies respect the peace agreement is the security guarantee by the Government of the USA that any breaches by them of the peace agreement will be dealt with by brutal force.
This is why the Russian Federation needs to replace its demands for various undertakings by the Ukrainian Government with a request for the security guarantee by the Government of the USA, as in point 3 above.
There are no real "security guarantees" in today's lawless world. And the relationships between Ukraine and the Russian Federation after the peace agreement comes into force will be similar to those between the two parts of Korea (North and South).
But the world is changing.
The "liberal democracies" which have been keeping the world in a constant state of wars and crises, especially this century, have reached the end of their "shelf-life". The election of President Trump and the National Security Strategy of the United States of America document are proofs of this change.
